WELDON.
The social event of last week was the marriage of James F. LISENBY and Miss Belle McKELVEY, both of this place, while S. P. McKELVEY led Miss Minnie FAIN, of Clinton, to the hymeneal altar. All this happened on May 3d. Both couples took the evening train for Chicago. Tuesday evening they were given a reception by Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Lisenby, which was a pleasant affair. All enjoyed themselves hugely, while the Deacon seemed to be in his natural element.

MARRIED.— On Thursday, December 20, at the residence of the bride's parents, by Rev. Geo. W. Gray, D. D., Miss Libbie SIMPSON, youngest daughter of Mr. Henry Simpson, and Mr. Jacob ZIEGLER, all of this county.
The marriage ceremony was performed in the presence of the relatives and a few of the very intimate friends of the contracting parties. Miss Simpson is an accomplished young lady and will preside with dignity and honor over the mansion to which her new relations transfer her. Mr. Jake Ziegler is one of the most prosperous farmers in this county.
The presents to the bridal pair were numerous and, in some cases, costly. We will briefly enumerate them. An elegant silver cake stand and card receiver, by Mr. and Mrs. Kunsch, of Des Moines, Iowa; a beautiful and costly butter dish, by Mr. and Mrs. L. Ziegler; a fine silver cake stand, by Mrs. Troutman, of Bloomington; a silver butter dish, by Miss Eva Ziegler; a set of silver knives and forks, by Mr. and Mrs. Ziegler; a crystal water set, by Mr. and Mrs. Magill; a silver card receiver, by Theodore Canfield; silver napkin rings, by Frank Griffith; a silver pickle dish, by Willie Magill; silver spoons and butter knife, by Charles Ziegler; pair of vases and butter knife, by Mr. and Mrs. Colwell; an autograph album, by Cal. Williamson, of Argenta; a toilet set, by Mamie Magill; a crystal tea set, by Miss Lou Simpson; a crystal toilet set, by Mrs. Henry Ziegler; a set of table linen, by Mrs. Bohrer; an elegant sauce spoon, by Mr. and Mrs. Freudenstein and A. L. Friedman; a silver castor and set of silver spoons, by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simpson. And to wind up the gifts, the blessing of the editor of THE PUBLIC on the happy couple. The bridal party left for an extended tour through the Southern States.

Mr. W. S. MASON, second son of Mr. John Mason, was married at Seemly, in Iroquois county, on Thursday of last week to Miss Mary J. JUDY, of that place. The young couple came home to the old gentleman's fireside last Saturday and will settle down to the realities of life.
