Tunbridge Cemetery

Tunbridge Cemetery was originally known as the Cox-Howard Burial Ground, the name was changed sometime during the late 1840's. It is located about two miles northeast of Kenney off State Route 54. This old cemetery was started about 1832 on land donated by William C. Cox. The oldest stone seems to be that of Seriah Lowrey, daughter of William and Elizabeth Lowrey who died in 1833. Many of the older pioneers are buried here. There are 75-100 graves that cannot be identified or located, many marked only by plants and shrubs. No records of burials was ever kept for this cemetery. It is neatly groomed but the original fence has been removed and many of the older stones are unstable and unreadable.
