While serving Ralph T. Vannote was disabled by injury right side near Pumpkinvine Creek, Georgia, on 20 Jun 1864.

Ralph T. Vannote, aged 71, resident of Farmer City, DeWitt Co, Illinois.  Stated that his occupation was a farmer.  He was born 30 Oct 1835 at Monmouth Co, New Jersey.  Since leaving the service he has lived at Farmer City, Illinois.  He is a pensioner, Certificate No. 523.138.  Post Office Farmer City, DeWitt Co, Illinois.  Ralph signed with an (X).

Ralph T. Vannote, aged 75, resident of Farmer City, DeWitt Co, Illinois.  Stated that his occupation was a farmer and that he was born 30 Oct 1835.  Since leaving the service he has lived in Illinois.  He is a pensioner, Certificate No. 523.138.  Post Office Farmer City, DeWitt Co, Illinois.  Ralph signed with an (X).

Ralph T. Vannote, aged 76, resident of Farmer City, DeWitt Co, Illinois.  Stated that his occupation was a farmer and that he was born 30 Oct 1835 at Monmouth Co, New Jersey.  Since leaving the service he has lived in Illinois.  He is a pensioner, Certificate No. 523.138.

Margaret Vannote, aged 79, born 4 May 1840, in Brown Co, Indiana.  Stated she is the widow of Ralph T. Vannote who died at Farmer City, Illinois, on 12 Jun 1919.  Married under the name of Margaret Page on 23 Jan 1859 by S.H. Martin at Farmer City, Illinois.  Post Office Farmer City, Illinois.

(9) Affidavit of James C. Richards – 19 Jun 1919 – DeWitt Co, Illinois
James C. Richards, aged 69, resident of Farmer City, stated he was well acquainted with Mrs. Margaret Vannote, widow of Ralph T. Vannote, and says he never knew of Margaret Vannote being married to anyone other than Ralph T. Vannote.

(11) Affidavit of James Jackson – 21 Jun 1919 – DeWitt Co, Illinois
James Jackson, aged 73, resident of Farmer City, stated he has known both Margaret Vannote and Ralph T. Vannote for around 50 years.  Stated he attended the funeral of Ralph T. Vannote and also says that he had charge of the members of Lemon Post #211 G.A.R. of Farmer who attended in a body.  To the best of his knowledge neither was ever married to anyone else.

(10) Affidavit of T. C. Haggard – 23 Jun 1919 – DeWitt Co, Illinois
T. C. Haggard, aged 79, resident of Farmer City, stated he was well acquainted with both Ralph T. Vannote and Margaret Vannote and to the best of his knowledge knows that neither was ever married to anyone else.  Stated he attended the funeral of Ralph T. Vannote who died on 12 Jun 1919.  He attended the funeral with members of Lemon Post #211 G.A.R. of Farmer City, Illinois.

(11) Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions – Drop Notice - 1 July 1919
Ralph T. Vannote was dropped from the roll due to death, 12 Jun 1919.  He was last paid $40 to 4 Apr 1919.

(12) Notice of Returned Check – 16 Apr 1921- Finance Division
Check #8608407 for $90 dated 4 Apr 1921 in favor of Margaret Vannote was returned by the Postmaster with the information that the pensioner died 18 Jan 1921.  Last paid at $30 to 4 Jan 1921.

(13) Certificate of Record of Marriage from the Dewitt Co. Clerk’s office gives the marriage date as 23 Jan 1859.  [Note: In the two circulars Ralph filled out in 1898 and 1915 he stated he was married on 25 Jan 1859.  Since Margaret stated that they were married on 23 Jan 1859 it was necessary to get a copy of the marriage record from the DeWitt Co. Clerk to clear up the discrepancy.]
