Hall Cemetery

Photograph of Hall Cemetery.

Hall Cemetery is located in section 33 of Barnett Township just off what is called "Kenny Blacktop" which is the road from Hallsville to Kenney. The oldest grave known is that of Caleb Hall who died October 7, 1839 although no stone remains today. However there are many lost gravesites here so there may have been an earlier burial. As you can see this is a forgotten cemetery. I drove down the road pass it four times before spotting the fence in the field. When you reach the fence the weeds have grown around and above the gate.

Buried there that we know of are:

  • Caleb Hall b. Oct. 14, 1802 d. Oct. 7, 1839 age 36y 11m 23d son of Mahlon and Hannah Read Hall
  • Mahlon Hall b. 1777
  • Hannah Hall wife of Mahlon and daughter of Jonathan and Susannah Read b. Dec. 25, 1786 d. Mar. 28, 1856
  • Edwin R. Hall son of A.C. and S. E.
  • Mahlon Hall son of J. R. and Eliza Hall no dates as stone is broken up
  • Jonathan R. Hall b. Nov. 13, 1831 d. Feb. 23, 1875 aged 43y 3m 10d
  • The stone above is lying on the ground partially buried but is the type that has the wife also, so may hold Eliza's name on the buried side.
  • Jeffery V. Hildreth d. Dec. 23, 1874 aged 3y 11m 15d
  • Susan E. Hildreth d. Mar 4, 1857 aged 19days

There are also several small unreadable stones.
