Eliza Agnes "Lida" (Smallwood) Parkhurst

Eliza Agnes "Lida" Smallwood (1868-1950), daughter of Parmenious Asbury Smallwood and Elizabeth Martin. Lida was born on the farm in Lane, Creek Twp. Her father was the son of Parmenious Smallwood and Deborah Brown who settled in the DeWitt Co. area in 1826. Her mother was the daughter of two other early settlers, Matthew K. Martin and Levina Lane (daughter of the elder Tillman Lane). I'm not sure when this picture was taken, but most likely around 1900 or so and I believe it was for a postcard. Lida was a DeWitt Co. school teacher in the early 1890's and was the most popular lady teacher in the county in 1894 (according to the Clinton Public). She married David Loven Parkhurst of Decatur, another school teacher, and moved to Oklahoma in 1907.
