When Archibald Coulter died January 21, 1875, his remains were deposited in the family grave yard near Coulter’s Mill.  Mr. Coulter had removed to DeWitt county in February 1866, and bought the mill in Creek township which had since borne his name.  He was at one time an energetic business man and had amassed considerable property.  He was almost seventy-two years of age at the time of his death, and was the father of fifteen children.  Two other names and death dates are listed on his tombstone.  One looks like CELIA, his first wife, but she died in 1852, before he moved to DeWitt County.  The second name is unreadable.

  • Alexander Coulter b. Abt. 1803 in South Carolina; d. January 21, 1875 in Illinois
